Actress Sameera Reddy is exploring the startup space with a clear focus on wellness and authenticity. In a conversation with CNBC-TV18’s Aishwarya Anand, Reddy said she has been in talks over the last couple of years and is considering backing brands in the health and fitness segment, but only those she truly believes in.
“A lot of people have come to me,” she said, “but I think it’s very important to put your name on something that your followers really love, they love you and respect you.” Reddy stressed that she wouldn’t associate with a brand just for the money. “Otherwise, trust me, my Instagram would be flooded with ads.”
Reddy, who has documented her own health journey online, believes that celebrities and influencers should consider taking a more active role in the companies they promote. “We’re working hard with brands and acting as their ambassadors, we should slowly get into that space.”
On the rising trend of using pharmaceutical drugs like Ozempic for weight loss, Reddy was clear in her stance. “I don’t understand how it entered the weight loss conversation. I mean, I can’t understand it, and I don’t want to understand it because I have my views on it, for myself, at least.” She added that while she doesn’t judge anyone who uses them for medical reasons, her own focus is on building strength naturally.
At 46, Reddy said her priorities include building bone density and muscle for long-term health. She prefers natural supplements, better food habits, and gut health over shortcuts. “We are living in an age where everything is about fast culture. And I’m like, that doesn’t work like that. Have a three-month plan. Have a six-month plan. Stick to the plan. Train your brain. It’s not that difficult,” she advised.
Reddy also highlighted the significance of understanding individual health needs, advocating for people to get checked, especially regarding hormone levels for women, to make informed decisions about their health journey.
