Drawing on its expertise in AI, metrology and spatial intelligence, the division will develop robotic solutions that complement the workforce in manufacturing, energy, logistics and more.
“Robotics has always been a core area of innovation at Hexagon. From total stations and drones for the construction sector, to laser trackers and measuring arms for manufacturing, to autonomous vehicles for mining and agriculture, we have always pioneered precision autonomous systems using robotics. Today, we are taking the next step by creating a dedicated Robotics division to build on the investments we have made in recent years and develop autonomous solutions that complement a shrinking, ageing and changing workforce,” said Norbert Hanke, Hexagon’s acting CEO, in a statement.
Arnaud Robert, with 25 years of experience in AI and technology development, has been appointed division president. No financial details were given about the move.
