Gold and silver price today (October 25): Gold drops ₹620, silver tanks ₹2,200 after hitting record high

Gold prices declined by ₹620 per 10 grams in major Indian cities in early trade on Friday, October 25, due to weak global trends and waning demand at record high levels.

The 22K gold also declined by ₹570 per 10 grams after breaching the ₹73,000 per 10 grams level on Thursday.

The yellow metal of 24K purity traded above ₹80,000 level on Thursday and the retail demand came down due to record prices. However, any major correction in the gold prices was not seen due to the demand in the ongoing festival period and wedding season.

The precious metal retreated in line with losses in the global markets. The spot gold was trading 0.35% down at $2,726 an ounce in early Asian trade on Friday.

Cutting short its four-day rising streak, silver prices tanked ₹2,200 per kg in major Indian cities in early trade on Thursday due to weak global trends. Silver prices traded at record levels on Thursday which impacted the demand from industrial units and coin makers. Silver was trading ₹2,200 lower at ₹1,01,900 in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Spot Silver traded lower by 0.51% at $33.50 an ounce in global markets.
