South Korea to vote on impeachment against acting president
Voting for the impeachment of South Korea’s acting President Han Duck-soo is likely to take place today. This comes after the main opposition party introduced a bill for his impeachment on Thursday (December 26).
The opposition Democratic Party had threatened to impeach Han if he did not immediately appoint three justices to fill the vacancies at the Constitutional Court. Parliament backed three nominees but Han has yet to formally appoint them, reported news agency Reuters.
According to Reuters, the impeachment motion listed several actions by Han as grounds for impeachment, including his veto of a special prosecutor bill aimed at investigating alleged misconduct by the First Lady.
