Samtec has designed a series of surface-mount board-to-board connectors that can handle 28Gbit/s NRZ signals and are only 2mm tall when mated.
SLH/TLH Series “offer connections in high data rate rugged environments such as automotive, industrial IoT, robotics, military and aerospace”, it claimed.
TLH is the part with the narrow raised ridge along the center, and SLH is the part with the corresponding groove along its centre.
The footprint is 4.7mm wide, and the 20 position (two rows of 10) part is 9mm long.
“Higher density signal routing is available with connectors of 40 or 60 total pins at slightly longer lengths,” said Samtec. “High pin density is enabled by a micro blade and beam contact system, which has a blade on one side and beam on the other, on a 0.5mm pitch.”
There are ~14mm and ~19mm long respectively.
Current rating is “2.1A per pin (2 pins powered)” according to the company – Electronics Weekly has asked for clarification here.
Operation is over -55 to +125°C.
Parametric information for these connectors is sparse and thinly-spread. The product pages are SLH and TLH, and of all the pages that mention these connectors, this is about the most useful, and this puts them into perspective with similar connectors from the company.
