PM Modi to launch health cover for senior citizens above 70 years
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will roll out the health coverage for all citizens aged 70 years and above irrespective of their income status under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
“The PM is likely to launch the expanded scheme under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme for those aged 70 years and above. It will benefit an estimated six crore citizens in about 4.5 crore households,” reported news agency PTI quoting a source.
Till September 1, 2024, a total of 29,648 hospitals, including 12,696 private hospitals, have been empanelled under the PMJAY.
Kamala Harris to make closing argument at Ellipse outside White House
Vice President Kamala Harris is set to make her closing argument at the Ellipse near the White House. Her campaign said that she would also urge the nation to ’turn the page’ toward a new era and away from Trump, stated ABC News.

According to a CNN report, the original permit estimated a crowd of 7,500 people to attend the rally. The site has become iconic with Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech where a mob of Trump supporters attacked the United States Capitol Building, two months after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
Vatican to publish its first report on child sexual abuse
The pope’s commission on clerical child sex abuse will publish its first annual report today, a decade after the body was established.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince to begin official visit to Singapore
Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, will begin an official visit to the Republic of Singapore on Tuesday. The visit comes at the invitation of Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong.

During the visit, the crown prince will meet Wong along with senior officials and CEOs from leading Singaporean companies in fields such as advanced technology, artificial intelligence and urban planning. The discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest, benefitting both nations and their people.
Alphabet (Google) Q3 results
Alphabet (Google’s parent company) will be releasing it’s third-quarter results today.
“We’re continuing to focus on making AI more helpful for everyone, there’s exciting progress and lots more to come,” Alphabet Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai said in a statement.
Mint reported, that Alphabet President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ruth Porat said that the unit’s sales had been affected by some customers’ cost-cutting. He said that the third-quarter cloud growth is due to ‘customer optimisation efforts,’ without elaborating.
