US President Donald Trump on Thursday (March 13) reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s comments on Ukraine and US ceasefire proposals, saying they were “promising” but “not complete”.
Trump, during his meeting with Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the Oval Office, told reporters that he hoped Russia would do the right thing.
Putin “put out a very promising statement but it wasn’t complete,” Reuters quoted Trump as saying.
“Hopefully Russia will do the right thing,” the US leader added.
Here are more quotes from Trump’s address to the media at the Oval Office:
“We’re getting words that things are going okay in Russia, but that doesn’t mean anything until we hear what the final outcome is.”“But they have very serious discussions going on right now with President Putin and others, and hopefully they all want to end this nightmare.”“So we hopefully are going to be in a good position sometime today to have a good idea.”
“We’ll have we know where we are with Ukraine, and we are getting good signals out of Russia as to where we are with Russia, and hopefully they’ll do the right thing.”
